Zevie's Luv

Zevie's Luv (1998)

Zevie was our first race project. She looked promising at the start but only raced once due to bowing both front tendons. She is currently in foal to Market Forcast so check back for Updates!!!

Zevie's Information

1/5/2002 Zevie has been back to work ponied by Gabby up the power mountain for a week. Helene has ridden her and I am happy to announce that her leg is giving her no more problems. She will be back to regular works soon, and then back to the track for new times. Hopefully racing by March or April.

7/23/2001 Zev left Bay Meadows for a vacation, She will take a few months off to completely heal her tendon, and then will work back up to racing. We are shooting for October at Del Mar.

7/14/2001 Zev ran her first race today broke well out of the gate , but then got tangled up with some other horses and triped. She gave up after that.

6/17/2001 Zevie is up to galloping 3 miles a day. We are getting closer 4 miles is the magic number to when we can start doing speed (Breezes) works again. I guess we will all have to learn that patience is a virtue. Even my trainer is getting impatient now and he is the one that said I was pushing too hard.

6/12/2001 After a week of being at the race track, I sadly have to announce that Zevie will not be ready for racing for another 30days the trainer had her on a short burst workout program which burned her out. The last breeze she did was 5/8 at a pathetic 109.5, which as you can tell is substantially slower than previous workouts. So we have upped her feed to a much higher carbohydrate regiment (more corn), including some joint builder and weight builder. We are slowly building her up to a 4-mile daily workout and when she reaches this amount we will breeze her again 1mile to see if her speed is up to racing. Most horses cannot endure a workout program like this due to inaccuracies in their conformation. She is holding up fine at 2 1/2 miles right now.

5/25/2001 Zevie breezed 3/8 with 155 pounds on her in 38.1 sec. She will breeze hopefully her last 5/8 on the 30th we are hoping for at least a 103 or better.

5/24/2001 Zevie is very close to being gate approved and is now galloping 2 miles a day. She will be breezing again on Friday 3/8 again.

5/21/2001 With an awful breeze of 5/8 at 108.0; She did work out of the gates with 2 other horses coming in second if it had been a race. She took a 1/2 mile time of .55 so not to get disqualified from the track. With a jockey change and being in season I think it was just not her day. A great breeder named turuso (sp.) said, "If he had a choice he would only run stallion, because fillies are only good half the time. Depending on their moods." This will set her racing date back a few days!

5/11/2001 Zevie will be working through the gates all this week hopefully by the end of the week she can jump out!

5/10/2001 Zevie breezed 3/8ths and ran 38.1 but the clocker accidentally timed her from the 5/8ths pole and she ran 103.4 so Vod spoke to the clocker and they are going to give her the official 5/8 work. Which means she only has one more 5/8ths breeze before she can race. Now she just needs gate approval.

5/08/2001 Zevie's getting her first set of racing shoes (queensland plates). She will breeze tomorrow 7:30 AM with three other horses.

5/7/2001 Zevie is feeling much better thanks to the vet's wonder powder she galloped today. She should breeze 3/8 tomorrow if the jockey is available.

5/5/2001 every 6 to eight days she should have another breeze posted she will not be running until Wed 5/9/2001 due to a slight cold from a strangles vaccination. This is better than her coming down with strangles we all know how bad gabby faired with this illness.

4/29/2001 3/8 in 39.4 held back around the corner, empty track

4/22/01 1/8 12.4 with 155 pounds, sliding in a 2foot hole between the rail and 2 horses
