Horse Training Information

Exercise Theory

Currently the thoroughbred industry as a whole spends millions of dollars every year to improve on existing feeding programs and exercise programs in an endeavor to make a difference in their racehorse’s speed at the tract. Like the industry, LL Farms has developed a training program that starts when the foal is a day old and continues till they are old enough to graduate to actual on tract training. Are foals are start slowly trotting within a couple of days of birth besides their mothers for short periods of time on our hills. As the training progress so does the workout distance along with an increase in the hill slope to a true hill-climb of 10% - 15% grade. This resistance type training is to increase stamina of the horse, which helps the horse reduce injury. We believe we can improve the thoroughbred horse training programs to produce a strong hardier racehorse that will not breakdown during training.
