Horse Breeding Information

Our Breeding Philosophy

We feel that the thoroughbred linage is an endangered due to the current breeding practices of the industry. Our Breeding program is focused on preserving the thoroughbred breed from the current trend on narrow line breeding into the eclipse male tail line. We have become avid students of thoroughbred pedigree in hopes of strengthening and developing the last of the Herod male-tail line. We have chosen to promote the Matchen and Herod bloodlines in order to promote and expand the narrowing thoroughbred gene pool. We pledge not to produce fashionable pedigrees for the sole purpose of the sale.

In addition to not breeding Eclipse horses we have an inclination that the grey horse is a truly superior athlete. If you study the history of grey horses in the racing industry, which breeders tried to irradiate in the early 1800’s, you will notice that they must have a certain stamina or sturdiness that other colors do not possess because they all have run larger quantities of races. Some of which might be familiar to you the Kentucky Derby winner Monarchos winning the 3rd fastest time in history which was 1:59.97 around the 1 1/4 mile track.  Another great grey was holly bull an american hall of fame champion race horse. His damn was a double grey, I will cover this later.

We have realized the importance of studying the history of the breed, and we understand the need to produce quality not quantity while holding ourselves to the highest standards. We pledge to produce the finest conformation and quality of thoroughbred in order to perpetuate the future of the thoroughbred horse. Through perseverance along with patience and persistence it is possible to promote a higher quality of thoroughbred horse.

We strive to learn from our experience and to improve with each step and decision we make.
